Easy Smores Snack Mix Recipe

S’mores Snack Mix is one of my favorite easy treats to make, partly because it’s completely no bake and also because it gives me an excuse to snack on m&ms for “quality control.”

This simple recipe comes together in minutes, and is fun to make with kids (if you don’t mind a few mini marshmallows disappearing in the process!)

This mix also makes a nice food gift. Pack it in Mason jars or tins, tie with a ribbon, and you’ve got an instant present teachers, neighbors, and friends will love.

Really easy to make: This S’Mores Snack Mix comes together in minutes, so it’s deal when you want something sweet and festive without turning on the oven.

Kid friendly: This is a simple recipe that’s easy to make with little ones. They can help with adding and stirring the ingredients.

Popular party snack: This mix is perfect for holiday parties, brunch, game day and movie nights. Make plenty, because it disappears fast!

Ingredients and Substitutions

Here are the basic ingredients you’ll need to make this yummy s mores snack mix.

Chocolate covered pretzels, Golden Grahams cereal, mini marshmallows, and colorful m&m candies.

Chocolate Covered Mini Pretzels – I love using these pretzels in the mix because they add a little salty crunch along with creamy chocolate. Feel free to use milk chocolate, semi-sweet, or dark chocolate mini-pretzels depending on what your tastebuds like! (You can also make your own homemade chocolate covered pretzels!)

Graham Cereal such as Golden Grahams – You can substitute little Teddy Grahams crackers if you like.

Mini Marshmallows – These soft little marshmallows make this snack mix taste like indoor s’mores!

M & M Candies – I used red and green mini m&ms for this batch, but you can use regular or peanut M&Ms. See additional add-ins below!

Step by Step Instructions

STEP ONE: Break the chocolate-covered pretzels in bite size pieces, if you like.

STEP TWO: In a large bowl, combine the pretzels, golden graham cereal, marshmallows, and m&ms. Stir to mix.

STEP THREE: Serve and enjoy!

Pro Tip: My Secret for Snack Mix that Stays Crispy for Gift Giving

When I’m making this S’mores Snack Mix as a food gift, I like to take one extra step that makes a big difference: air-drying the marshmallows first. Marshmallows naturally contain quite a bit of moisture, and when they’re sealed in a jar with cereal and pretzels, that moisture can slowly soften everything around them.

Letting the marshmallows dry out just a bit helps protect the crunch of the mix, so it stays fresh and crisp even after it’s packaged and gifted.

The process is simple. Just spread the mini marshmallows in a single layer on a large tray or baking sheet and leave them uncovered at room temperature overnight.

Mini marshmallows spread on a clear platter to dry.

By morning, they’ve released some excess moisture but are still pleasantly chewy.

Once they’re dry, go ahead and make the snack mix as usual. This small step helps ensure your S’mores Snack Mix looks great, tastes great, and holds up beautifully in a sealed container or jar.

I like to transfer the mix to quart jars and tie with a pretty ribbon.

Storage Directions

It’s best eaten fresh, but you can store any leftover snack mix at room temperature in an airtight container or in ziplock bags.

Notes

Tip for making S’mores Mix in a Jar: The night before you plan to make it, dry the marshmallows. This will help them not to soften the other ingredients in the jar. Spread the mini marshmallows in a single layer on a large tray or baking sheet and leave them uncovered at room temperature overnight. Then proceed with the recipe.
Store leftover snack mix in a tightly sealed container at room temperature. It’s best eaten fresh, but can be stored for up to a week.
