Slow and Steady Can Lead to Big Things

Allow me to introduce Turnip, a beautiful female turtle my son and I are caring for this weekend. Her photo seems fitting for this final day of my six-day experiment to take photographs daily for 15 minutes.

Slow and steady is a concept I’ve learned to embrace. Big projects can be overwhelming, but I’ve discovered that working in small increments can help me make real progress. The key, for me, is to honor those small chunks of time and create space for them in my busy schedule.

  1. I love your blog, and I think you have a really talented eye for photography! Are you going to sell your photos? I hope so! I am redecorating a travel trailer/camper. It is an utterly overwhelming job, as silly as that sounds, but by only committing to doing one small “module” at a time, it’s getting done. Sanding cabinet doors, over several days… masking areas to be painted one day, removing rust another day, priming bare metal another day, carefully cleaning drawers… by only looking at a small part of the big picture at a time, I find I am not feeling so overwhelmed. It gives me a chance to really do each piece “right” since I’m not trying to get the whole thing done at once. This is such a novel concept! I also want to try to commit to writing for 15 minutes every day, but that might have to wait until after the camper is done 🙂 Thank you for a fantastic website!!

  2. I run a lot (100m sprint training), so every day I’m out on the track for an hour. It’s painful, but looking back after 4 months, it’s pretty crazy how much faster I’ve gotten.
