Win a Deluxe Happy Simple Living Gift Basket
In honor of the January Money Diet, I’ll be giving away a gift basket chock-full of home and garden goodies plus several books at the end of the month. On January 31, 2012, I’ll draw one random name from everyone who commented during the month and that lucky person will win the gift basket. I hope you’ll stop by often this month and share your own ideas, thoughts and experiences about taking a 31-day break from nonessential spending.

I love the idea of simple living. I am striving to be more intentional about my spending, and more thoughtful of how my choices affect others, especially those in the developing world. Thanks for the great advice in your blog!
We’re lucky to live near DU where they have these bikes for rent. We long ago gave our own bikes away as they weren’t being used enough, but it’s nice to be able to ride one occasionally.

I wish something like this would work for me, but unfortunately I have severe RA and walking any great distance or biking is out. However, my daughter does walk the kids to school when weather permits. And we also plan certain days to get out and get things done at the same time so we aren’t using the car to run around every day. That works out pretty good.
Me and my friend tried walking a busy avenue after work. Yes, we had to allot more travel time for it but at the end of the journey, we felt like we had a very great cardio workout. Now that’s what we call hitting two birds with one stone.
